Three years after the success of "Change is Gonna Come" , Carmine released "Gotta Go On". Feeling the pressure to recapture the excitement of "Change", Carmine seemed to be feeling his way for a musical style. What he ended up with was an album, that although there were some great songs, (ie: "Will Tomorrow Be the Same", "Love Will Sustain"), the critics panned it for having no direction and for their inability to put it in any one musical category.
The album didn't sell and Carmine was eventually released from his contract with his original record label, Little Hill Records. Six years later he would be signed by Overdub Records and would release his triumphant comeback album, " Days That Won't Come Back" .
